We’re reading through Mark as a church during Lent and I read through Mark 4:1-20 today. One quick reflection: Whenever I think of the texts that talk about not worrying about today or no getting bogged down by the cares of the world, I immediately think about the Sermon on the Mount, specifically Matt. 6:25-34. But Mark 4:19 also highlights this very contemporary concern: “..but the cares of the world, and the lure of wealth, and the desire for other things come in and choke the word, and it yields nothing.” Good thing Jesus has nothing applicable to say about today’s world.
