“Then I heard the Lord’s voice saying, ‘Whom should I send, and who will go for us?’ I said, ‘I’m here; send me.’” (Isaiah 6:8)

“You can look but don’t touch.” How often did we hear those words as children? Or, for those who are parents, how often do you use them with your own kids? You may have been in a museum or a nice store or a bakery, but wherever it was, you may have seen something that made your eyes go wide and you reached out until…“You can look but don’t touch.” I wonder how much that philosophy seeps into the way we live our lives. It’s a whole lot safer to observe and see things from afar without actually getting involved in the stuff of life. Isaiah (the “I” in the above text) certainly felt that way. In an earlier verse, God makes a dramatic entrance into the temple and Isaiah feels wholly unworthy of being in God’s presence. He didn’t even want to look, let alone touch! But after a closer experience of being with God, he had a change of heart. “Send me.” Today, believe that God is inviting you to touch, see, feel, and experience all that this world has to offer. And offer yourself to say yes to this invitation.
